Has anyone figured out how to connect a Pixel Phone to TV yet?

Trying to play games from my phone on TV. I have a bunch of Nintendo emulators and a bluetooth controller.
I bought a cord that plugs into my phone & HDMI on the other side but it doesn't work.
I can connect through chromecast but that doesn't allow me to kick arse on Super Mario Brothers 3 on the big screen.
Any help is appreciated.

Buy an Nvidia Shield TV and use that instead. It will be a much more pleasant experience.
