Has anybody used Total Wireless?

It's through Walmart and uses the Verizon network. My parents live in a location where the only service that reaches their home is Verizon. They currently pay about $200 for 2 phones, because I think they signed up for a plan some years ago, and have never changed.
I started researching some options for them, and two lines for Total Wireless is $60/month. I think Total Wireless uses the Verizon network, but they only get 3G service. Will they get the same coverage, but only with 3G speeds? Or is their coverage area limited, as well?
I think they are fine with the 3G, as most of the time they are at home and use wifi for data.

Coverage are would be the same as Verizon's, but Verizon traffic gets priority over the MVNOs, so it may not be quite as fast as standard 3G.
