Hey guys, i'm about a hundred miles out in the GOM and rig internet is slow and generally restricted to no social media or movies/music. Is there any box or device that I can buy that connects me to some type of broadband or satellite internet that I can connect my computer or phone and access the internet.

I think T-mobile has coverage in the gulf, but im not switching over. Thanks

Does AT&T or Cox have a cable going all the way out to your rig? Are you willing to setup a dish on your rig? If not then the only option would be wireless and if your current provider doesn't work and you aren't willing to switch to one that you think does...

You're not just in the middle of nowhere, you're in the middle of nowhere in a large body of water. There's not much profit in providing consumer internet access to such a remote location with minimal infrastructure. I'm kind of surprised TMobile might be an option.

When I was in afghan I bought a satellite internet setup. It was way better than anything the military had for general use. Just be ready to pay. Mine was like 150 a month.

Not sure what facility you're on but I am willing to bet they're not going to let you set up anything without prior consent, MOC, cabling in through blast proof penetrations. Using proper rated equipment. Just bring your porn with you instead of sucking up limited bandwidth off the microwave.
