Got an email saying my Drop Cam has a bug in it

And it no longer will be working. They said due to this problem I will receive a brand new Nest Cam. The new Nest Cam came in today and I have already hooked it up. It works great. They said in the original email to throw my old Drop Cam away. I tried hooking it up again but it will not work. The Drop Cam is only 6 months old. Is there any way I can use it for something else? Seems like a waste to throw it away. Any ideas?

They probably did something in their system to kill it once they knew you activated the new one.

Was it working fine even though they wer recalling?
Also, for us dummies, did Nest buy dropcam? Why is a dropcam replaced with a nest?

My old camera was working perfectly until the AM they sent me the email. Since then I have not been able to get online with the drop cam.
So I guess Nest did kill it. There really is nothing else I can do with it now. They recommended in the email to recycle it.

I would keep it. Sooner or later someone will figure out how to fix them and make them useful again, if they haven't already.

Ok, I will put it in the closet. I'll keep my eyes open for youtube videos.
