Ok pulled this thing out of the garage. It's called the DJI phantom 3 standard. Ok so I tested it out at my grandfather's house. It hovers at 3 foot until you take control of it with controller. To get it to hover, you have to take off with your phone. So we were inside at this point because it was windy and raining at my GF house. So I packed it up and took it to my house. Now when I try it at my house, I can't get it to do anything. Not take off, nothing. My question is how can I fix this? Anything is helpful. Also I am really dumb about tech stuff. So you will have to explain to me like I'm 5. Thanks.

While this really isn't too complex a a topic for this forum, you'd get more bang for your buck time wise going to youtube university. Just search on the drone name and how to fly.

I don't have one and know little about them but if you have followed the instructions then it sounds like your product is defective.
Cover the basics in the instructions again to make sure you haven't overlooked anything and at that point if it doesn't work then it's time to return the product.

Might have to re-set it up with your current wifi.

This is where I don't get it because like I said I have gotten it to actually lift off the ground and hover. So if it was defective, it wouldn't do that. Plus the guy who's friends with my grandpa, has a grandson who flies drones in a class at auburn. He got it to work as well and sent it up in the air 30 meters. That's the cap for height in beginner mode. I guess I forgot to mention that in the OP. It's almost like my phone doesn't wanna work with the wifi at my house or something. I don't know.

Just spit balling here, but it may be stuck in some kind of safety mode if it isn't picking up enough GPS signals.

It might be geolocation locked. The DJI app will lock you out of flying the drone all the way up to not allowing any control at all if you are in an area DJI has marked restricted. It should be visible in the DJI flight app on the map, but if not, there are other drone info sites you can look up drone restricted areas. Airports, prisons and military bases are the main culprits for geo-lock out.

Otherwise yo shite might just be broke.

Your phone doesn't connect to your home's wifi. It connects to the drones wifi. My guess is your phone is defaulting to your home network and not the drone's wifi signal.

Yes when it tries to connect to the drones wifi it won't. It's says there's no Internet.

Well for whatever reason, the drones wifi couldn't connect to my phone. Why I don't know. So I took my work tablet home. Connected to the drone, put in the password for it. Boom. Started hovering. Then took the controller and flew it oh I don't know 200 ft in the air. So if you have a DJI phantom 3 standard it will not work with the Motorola 5g stylus phone. Just an fyi.

Of course there is no internet, the drone is not a wifi hotspot. Just select the connect without internet option.

How long is a while back?

Get it connected to the internet and update firmware as needed, take it outside away from obstructions and give it another try.

Ok I guess I'll actually have to write this since nobody read last post.

Drone is fixed now. Wasn't compatible with my phone. Works with iPad.

I'll bet dollars to donuts it is and you aren't operating your phone correctly to get it to connect.

You'd lose that bet also. I hooked it right up to my iPad. It doesn't connect to my phone.

If the drone connects to your iPad and your phone connects to regular wifi, the drone will connect to your phone as well.

Step 1. Go to your phone and forget the drones wifi network.

ETA: I'm not trying to be obtuse. I just know what it takes to connect my son's drone to various phones/tablets. Also having flown a drone with even a small 7" tablet the size form factor makes using the controller top heavy and difficult.

I don't know how to explain this to you any other way. It will not connect to my phone. Period. At all.

Drones work on a 2.4 ghz network signal. Have you checked your phone to make sure it is able/set to connect to both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks? It's possible to disable 2.4 network on a phone via the phone's operating system. So if your phone is switched to that setting it would not be able to connect. Many phones will connect to 5ghz networks by default because 5ghz is faster at shorter ranges. Have you tried to connect to the drone (far) away from your home or familiar networks to make sure you aren't getting "interference" from it? There are still lots troubleshooting to be done.

I'll still put my cards on operator error.
