I have direct tv at my camp in Mississippi, can I move the account to my house in LA but keep a box at the camp??
Genie vs mini genie? Do the communicate with each other?
Do I just call direct tv and tell them I need to move the service, have them come out and set it up at my house, then bring a box back to the camp?

Move account to your house in LA. Mini genie uses a tuner on the genie. You need a receiver with a tuner at the camp. Add one to your home account for $7 a month and take it to the camp. You may or may not get local channels at the MS camp depending upon the distance from your LA house.

Easiest way is to call them and say you have or are purchasing an RV and you need to get a receiver for the RV. Buy a second dish from Amazon / Ebay. Set it up at your camp.

So do i just tell them I need an extra receiver with a tuner? Seems they would catch on?

You say you need a basic receiver (whatever Direct offers without a DVR) for your RV or for Tailgating and that you have a portable dish that you will be using with it when you go on a trip or when you go to a game.
We do it wish dish. I have a Hopper 3 setup in the house and 3 Wallys (Dish's basic receiver) in our RV. The Wallys cost me like 7 bucks a month.
They Dish and Direct both allow this.
What they don't allow is for you to have service at two different addresses at the same time on the same bill. Unless you state it is for your RV or for tailgating, you will have to open another account.

Yes...I do this at my lake house...it is called a second home install. You will need to call them and they will send out a tech to install the new dish and you will need a box out there. Each account is only allowed one genie so you will need the older hd dvr or hd receiver but it will still work and I get all the same channels I get at home for $7 month box rental. They ask if both home and second home tvs will be on the at the same time (this is to insure it is for the same people....if not then they will want you to open a second account). You need to tell them only one location will be using the dish at any time.
Now comes the tricky part...scheduling the install...you have to be very thorough with them on where the tech needs to go...the first time we did this he showed up at my main house and not the lake house....so I wasted a trip out there just to meet the tech. You will want to verify the day before that the tech is indeed going to your camp the next day.
