My freaking Cox internet STINKS! Unreliable signal. Only works well about 25% of the time. I'm open to suggestions.

Hardwire directly to your modem and check it out. Sounds like a router problem to me

I had COX at my old house

I was always without internet. It was terrible.

I've since moved and have at&t internet and it's working well so far

I've changed modems and routers multiple times to rule out those problems with no improvement. Most of the time the modem has trouble even getting a good, stable strong signal.

This.

I see a lot of cox hate but in my area I haven't had issues with them like that yet. My speed is great off peak times and it blows during peak times...so I called them. First they came out and tested and the RX was failing so put an amplifier on the line and that fixed that. Still sucked during peak times and they tested more and verified the node is overloaded and will fix that in the coming weeks. So far so good. And when I say sucks I mean from 200 to 9

My Cox internet is great.

You should just get a better router? Make sure everything is good with the technical support and your house first?

Talk to them about it, they can help you out I'm sure.

Has someone come out to your house to check your outside lines?

I use to have slow internet and not getting my speeds.. then they came out and put in new wires outside.. and it's been great ever since.

Get them to fix it.. if you aren't getting the speeds you paid for then get it fixed, then you can get a credit back.

I got credit back for a couple months when I wasn't getting my speeds until they fixed it.

I don't know why these guys give up on a service without a tech coming out.

My problem...guy showed me it was at like 88% with just under 800 modems on it.

OP plug directly into the modem and check...then directly into the router and check. Use the cox website speed test so the person on the phone can see the results too. Its the same as speedtest.net.

I had connectivity issues when I first bought my house a year ago. Cox came out multiple times trying different things with no success (the biggest issue was it always seemed to work when they came). Finally I convinced them to change their little box on the utility line outside and re-wire that to my house ... VOILA! No more issues.

They put some kind of monitor on a few houses on my block about 6 months back because of a few complaints. My area is business/residential, and they ended up switching the businesses to another node or something. In my experience, the guys who come out in the bucket trucks are very knowledgeable. The subs they send out sometimes usually aren't the brightest bulbs though

Always a crapshoot with the tecks. The last one that was out seemed to know what was up. He had seen this issue before and knew what to look for...didn't even have to come in the house. He said they been switching out to 24x4 feeds from the 12x4 on those nodes and it's been correcting the issue. Time will tell.
