A month or so back they cut off a few channels, but they are all off now.

Locals are still alive. Does anyone know if they plan on keepin the locals? That's all I care about.

there are laws requiring them to, but they will likely be digital and you'll have to 'stop by' the cox cable office to pick up a free digital box to recieve them.

Well I'm getting free cable

This could save me the money on a digital antenna

Doubtful. Once they go all digital, it is permissible to encrypt everything, including locals. The FCC relaxed the rule on that a couple years ago.

The morons forced my hand to completely cut the cord.

I refuse to "rent" from them. I was hanging on to basic so now they get nothing.

Going to drop phone and cable and they only got me on the internet.

Google needs to bring us some fiber down here. Can we hire Rev Al to claim Google is racist for not having fiber in New Orleans?

Have cox in Baton Rouge. Got an email today saying local channels go away January 27th 2016.

ESPN, Hgtv and Disney go away January 7th 2016.

Edit: as of 8:36pm on December 15th I still have most channels even without any box. A few have dropped off, but not one we use yet.

Edit 2: pic of email

I have to admit I'm enjoying my mini box, though I wish there was a way for me to buy one instead of rent.

cox has nothing to do with OTA digital antennas so to get local channels one can just buy an HD antenna.

hilarious that people would actually considering "renting" those boxes in 2015 - cox is living on an outdated model

Was really banking on keeping the locals. I can't get a solid signal with my antenna

I just was experimenting with Kodi on one TV and it works very well. My plan is to install a large antenna in the attic and run to all of our TV's minus the living room and then have streaming devices, i.e. Apple TV's or Amazon Fire in all of the other rooms.

Looks like I'm going to have to do the same thing.

Find the gray-hoverman. I built one myself for less than $10. It's mounted to a rafter in my garage, with a splitter running to a jack in the garage and another to my back porch. In Hammond I catch all the Baton Rouge stations and all the NOLA stations. On a good day, I'll catch a fox station out of Mississippi.

Can't find the damn Balun transformer at Walmart. What department was it in?

Or what other store can I get it at?

I have everything built, just need the transformer.

Question for running my cable in the attic.. should I run a new wire down, or would it be fine if I splice with the cable I want going to my TV?
