Got this message in email today:

We want you!

Dear AT&T Internet customer,

As part of the National Broadband plan, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) conducts annual testing to measure broadband performance in the U.S.

The FCC is looking for volunteers to join this national study. It's completely voluntary and there are no costs involved. The study will take place this month and run for 2-3 weeks.

If you're selected, you'll receive a special device with built-in performance measurement software that will provide you access to network performance information.

Interested in contributing to the study? Please visit www.testmyisp.com to learn more.

Sincerely,

Your AT&T Internet Service Customer Care Team

So AT&T is so patently shitty that we purposefully connect exactly 0 devices in the house to it. I only keep it around because A) it's probably bundled and I can't get rid of it and B) on the few times Charter is out, at least I can sneak some email through the shitty ATT connection.

On one hand I wanna do this so that they'll have empirical evidence of how much it sucks OR

On the other hand I don't wanna do it because they are a lost cause.

No, no, and no.

If thats not reason enough, it just plugs in to your existing router. I dont want ATT knowing where I am and what I am doing. I just want Cox to know.
