I always disliked how they kept the Chromebook experience different from the regular play store. This instantly makes them more appealing to a broader audience. Maybe they're worth checking out now?

Can you use external hard drives with a Chromebook?

Yes. You just can't really install software on the OS. Hell, a lot of chromebooks actually have storage built into them as well.

With more and more popular software applications now offering cloud based solutions, though, the "limiatations" on chromebooks are melting away. I absolutely love them for an organization due to cost as well as ease of deployment and upkeep.

Chromebooks are awesome. Fast cheap and battery life for days.
