I am with att and have a trip to Canada planned next month. The place I am staying (hunting lodge) does not have wifi. I would like to be able to communicate with the wife and kids at least once a day and may have to make a few work calls and check email a couple times. Am I better off just using att roaming plan or is there a prepaid sim card that I could use to make calls back to the US? I seem to remember hearing T-Mobile has a prepaid plan that includes maybe calls text and data from Canada?

Might want to get a wireless hotspot from rogers or other provider in that area when you get there. You will have to sign up using the address of the place you are staying. I think they have prepaid plans and you can cancel when you are done with it. It will cost you up front but is there if you need it in the future or you could sell on ebay when you are through.
