I have an old truck with no technology in at all. A CD player, thats it.

A while back i started down the path of installing a tablet in the dash, but it just wasnt feasible and there was no real solution to having servicible FM/AM radio.

But i want to keep my truck for a while and i think upgrading by radio would help quell the itch for an upgrade.

Things im looking for:
1)double-din touch screen
2)Dont care if it has a cd player
3) Would love for it work with my phone
4)gps would be great too
5)do any have spotify compatibility.

Now i know they have Apple Carplay but that costs like 700 dollars and has bad reviews. Anyone have any could recs for around 200 dollars?

So look in the $200 range at sonic electronix, but you need to up your budget to $350-ish

Then, depending on how old your shite is, you might or might not need a dash kit and harness, which will be an extra $75-150

This is what I would buy.

LINK

I'v ran pioneer double dins for years. Never failed me, the UI is probably the easiest to use. Features for price point is always damn good with these pioneer HUs

GPS Is not included however there is an expandable unit to buy separably that will work.

I dont know of any HUs that fully support spotify yet. However it will still play what spotify is playing, you just wont have the full support like you would have using pandora.

This HU works with Iphone and Android.

Do you want a knob for volume? Seems like a small thing, but if you're used to it and don't have one all of a sudden, it can be frustrating.

The AVIC series is supposed to be very good.

For the easiest experience, go to Crutchfield.com and enter your vehicle info. They will include mounting hardware for free as well as installation instructions. You may need to pay $5 for a harness.

Also, make sure that the head unit includes the GPS antenna.

Not to hijack anything, but if I bought a unit like this and am unable to install it myself, where in Baton Rouge could I find someone to install this and what would be a good price to pay? This is presuming you're from BR, of course, and could tell me...

Yes from BR.

couple places.
Try Mikes car audio Website

Davids car audio (on seigen)

Innovative audio (in denham off of range)

All are good for a simple Headunit install.

Price will depend on what it requires/type of vehicle/and if you are missing any hardware/wiring that they have to provide. I shouldn't be all that much unless the vehicle you have is a pain to install a radio in.

I bought the very one you suggested. Locally, the 2 dealers I went to wanted >$400 for it, and we got it for <$290 with the harness and antenna thrown in. Dealing with Sonic Electronix was a quick, pleasurable experience. The only reason I'm not installing it myself is because I don't know how the hell I would run the SirusXM antenna wire or where to attach it on the roof.

Even though it was for someone else, thanks for the recommendation!

They are a really good company to deal with. They even took some speakers back a year ago because I told them they sounded like shite (they did). Gave me a credit and I bought some better ones
