Nova Launcher? Apex Launcher? Action Launcher?

What does this board think?

I've got an HTC One M9.

I stuck with the stock nexus launcher for a long time because I liked being able to swipe over to the Now page. But just yesterday I installed Nova, set the home button to launch the Google app, and it's basically the same thing except the entire phone is faster now (Nexus 6).

I used to use Apex, but I don't think it's been updated in forever.

slight off-topic, but i would love the have the ability to move the 'top bar' to the bottom (like with chrome) because i cant reach the 'bookmarks' option or 'new tab' option with one hand.

with larger phone screens, it just stupid not to move the menu bar to the bottom where you can actually reach shite one-handed.

Is Nova fairly easy to use or does it take a while to get it set?

I've always stuck with the stock nexus one too simply because i liked it. I never gave nova a shot. Is it really that much better? i see it's $5 for the premium version.

It's just like the stock launcher (minus the Now page). Just put your icons and widgets where you want. Of course, there are a lot more options than stock, but you don't have to fiddle with that if you don't want to.

It made my phone a lot snappier, not sure how it will affect yours. Make sure you reboot after setting Nova to the default.

I'm using the free one. Premium gets you:

Unlock the following extras by purchasing Nova Launcher Prime

• Gestures - Swipe, pinch, double tap and more on the home screen to open your favorite apps

• Unread Counts - Never miss a message. Unread count badges for Hangouts, SMS, Gmail and more using the TeslaUnread plugin

• Custom Drawer Groups - Create new tabs or folders in the app drawer

• Hide Apps - Keep a clean app drawer by hiding never used apps

• Icon Swipes - Set custom actions for swiping on app shortcuts or folders

• More scroll effects - Such as Wipe, Accordion, and Throw

Stock
Change animator duration scale and transition scale to 0.5x

Fastest your phone will be.
Launchers are largely overrated esp now

I do, too. I just had to adjust from swiping over to it to just tapping the home button to bring it up. Or, you can get the premium version and set a swipe up or down gesture, or a double tap to launch it.

Google your phone. There will be another setting that you rapidly tap 7 times and developer settings will appear. It's magic.

I guess i would have to look into it. i just switched over to nova launcher for a moment and when i press home all it does it bring a pop up asking me if i want to complete the action using nova launcher or nexus launcher. It doesn't take me to google now.

I got it. Phone does seem to be a little snappier than before. Not by much but it was pretty quick already.

Actually, my stock launcher is Sense UI for HTC. I can't swipe to the Now Page. Sense has Blinkfeed. I have a google now icon on my homescreen that I have to open to access Now.

Next time that happens, you have to select "always" for it to set your default launcher. You can always change this in settings later.

Second, tapping home for Now isn't a default action. You have to get into the Nova settings to tell it what you want to happen when you press home.
