Has anyone tried to trade in an iPhone with cracks in the screen? I have small cracks in the corner of my iPhone 6s that do not disrupt use of the phone, but everything I've read seems to imply AT&T won't accept any physical damage to screens... is this true? Anyone have experience with this?

I'd say it depends on the guy you're working with. I had one guy fill out the papers and took my phone, checked to see that it turned on, threw it in the bag, and marked the condition as the highest mark. I was stunned because I fully expected it to be in the middle of the road of quality. It had little pot marks, scratches, abrasions, and discoloration all over it (nothing major, but noticeable cosmetic flaws).

So you're saying it's essentially luck of the draw?

Dont do that. ATT keeps track of the serial number of the original phone you buy through your Next plan. So they will just wind up sending that phone back to you and billing you for the remaining balance of what you owe on the original.

Not necessarily, once the rep does the trade in you are good. If they don't notice the crack I definitely wouldn't tell them. There is no way for att to go back because you can say their rep looked at it and it was in good condition. What happens when you leave is on them.

I never bought a phone when I joined next. I wasn't aware that was a stipulation. Thanks for the heads up

False. I've know instances were the "warehouse" will send it back because it doesn't match the original serial number or the phone they received didn't work and was sent back

Well it applies to Next purchases and Next trade-ins. Example. You buy a iphone on the Next 24 plan which is spread of over 30 monthly installments with the option to trade-in and upgrade at the 24th month. The phone you purchased must be the one you trade in at the 24th month or you can bet your arse that they will charge you the remaining balance left on the plan. Granted this can take a month or two to sort out. Trust me ATT always gets their money.

I was thinking about sending my phone into Apple for a screen repair and then trading it in... not sure if I should risk taking a semi damaged screen into the ATT store... thoughts?

Well if you have insurance with AT&T, it usually costs $99 to fix the phone depending on how long you've had it. You don't get much with them however, I'd trade it in at Apple or Best Buy. Tried to trade in a 6s plus in great condition and all I got was $190. Apple gives $250 and Best Buy gives $225.
