Are factory monitors in a new vehicle worth it? or iPad?

I am closing on a new car (17 Infiniti QX80) and we are wondering if we should go with Factory dual head-rest monitors or just buy two ipads and two mounts?
The iPads can be removed and used other places.
anyone have any comments on this?

if you have upwards of 70k to blow on a car then you should probably just get the head-rest monitors and two ipads

I opted to get the iPads in lieu of the built-in head rest monitors. The monitors do not have any added function IMO over the iPad. My kid typically holds the iPad anyway, so even the mount is not used anymore (we used it extensively until he was 3 or so). Meanwhile, the iPad can serve a lot of additional functions besides simply a video display device, both in the car and away from it.

I have then in my Durango Citadel. In two years, the kids have used maybe twice. They use their phone or tablet. A complete waste.

My experience is opposite. My kids use the built in monitors like crazy. Tablets would always cause problems somehow. Very happy we got the built in screens.

My kids are in double digits. They like YouTube, texting and games. Watching movies is far down their list.
