Yeah it's still not that easy, it has to do with other iPhones still wanting to route through imessage not yours. I dealt with this, it was annoying but I wasn't looking to sue anyone over it

It's shady business but it's apple's business to run as they see fit. I don't think it's lawsuit worthy.

So you have no problem with a phone company withholding your messages out of your control after you switch to a different phone company on an independently owned network?

Suing for money, no. Probably no merit in that for most, though some surely have a good claim if it affected their business.

But suing for a clarification from the courts that a phone company interfering with a networks operations is illegal is more than enough to have merit.

Yea i know sometimes i text people who used to have iPhones and it still sends as iMessage. Clearly this chick isn't tech savvy. Just send as a regular text and it works.

My phone provider openly admitted to me that Apple does this sh*t to keep people from switching over to Android.

Someone at your phone provider has the intel on Apple's internal decision-making?

Or was it that some customer support person pulled something out of his arse with no evidence to back it up?

Lol. Turn off iMessages.....problem solved

You don't have imessages on the new device. Whats happening is they find out AFTER switching that they are having text issues.

I have facts and logic to explain why and how this happens and how to avoid it, but it would be wasted on all of the Apple haters.

And breesus...they are not "withholding" the texts.

ETA: and it's not only android. If you switch to any non apple device the messages will not be delivered.

I'm not going to say "that's not a bug, it's a feature!" Because it is clearly a bug, but one that provides massive efficiency compared to the alternative. If your phone had to check everytime you sent a text to someone if they had iMessage or not it would be a huge tax on your phone and the servers that handle iMessage.

Easiest way to fix the problem is to do a complete restore of the device (something you should do anyway if you're no longer going to use the phone) and sign into iCloud and remove the device from "My Devices"

From a technical standpoint, it would almost be like suing apple because "they don't let their apps work on android"

They're not withholding anything. You want to use their product you stick with them. You don't it no longer works. Tough shite. It's pretty simple.

Are you saying an iPhone user should never leave the iPhone or that they should have to change their phone number if they switch from the iPhone?

The people in the suit don't want to use iMessage anymore. They want to use the text feature they are paying their provider for on the non-Apple phone they chose to buy. Apple is preventing that, thus the lawsuit. And this is a big deal for businesses that rely on text messages for business communication.

Anyone know if this is still an issue or it has been resolved? Was thinking about switching to the HTC One M8.

Edit: apparently so LINK /
