I'm curious to how they are going to handle these. I hope I don't have to go into the store to switch mine out. I'm taking off that day anyway for something else, but I'd prefer them to just mail it to me and I'll send the 6S back.

You have to sign a new loan, so yes, you will be going to a store again.

Oh. Yeah, I get that. But, seriously, how much farther can phones go? I feel like all the new "innovative" shite is just gimmicky at this point.

Take Samsung. "OH MY GOD! The phone is a circle now! HOW frickING BRILLIANT!"

And it's not just Samsung. It's all of them.

We are going to make the phone so super thin that you can't even find it! Or we're going to give you what you always wanted! A 70 inch phone screen!

As long as the phone looks nice and can do shite quickly I will be happy.

i agree with sabi. until the next truly game-changing tech, the smartphone form factor has mostly run its course.

we're into better glass, fingerprint scanners and apparently apple thinks doing away with the headphone jack is what people want.

i dont see revolutionary innovation coming from any smartphone maker right now.

They are not the first ones to do this, several people have done it including Motorola. I don't think this is going to be a huge deal for very long. Apple potentially going to a different in house comm besides Bluetooth may be the bigger deal.

The only things I get excited about are battery life, display, speed, and software things that make my life better.

Google Now, for example, I use all the time. Sure, it's horrifying that Google knows everything about my life. But it's pretty convenient to pull up google now and it shows the status of 4 packages coming in this week and what time I need to leave to make a flight it found in my gmail.

What is Google Now and can I get it on an iPhone?

I'm sorry. I'm new to this.

I use gmail, google drive, google apps for business, etc. So I don't want to lose that stuff when I switch to Apple.

Google's Siri, iOS has an app for it. It's not integrated into the phone like Siri or Now on an Android.

That sucks. I would get a Google phone that has all the Google stuff on it but I am not going to pay them over 600 bucks up front for a phone. That just doesn't sit right with me.

It's Google's assistant. Many of the features are available on iOS through the Google App.

quote:

The stand-alone Google app for iOS includes a version of the Google Now assistant for keeping track of your appointments and news stories you may care about.

...Google Now can show you updates on traffic, weather, stocks, sports teams, television shows and other items of interest, while also reminding you of your friends’ birthdays and events on your daily schedule. You can also search the web by voice through the Google app.

If you're ok with Google knowing everything about you then you should also check out the Google keyboard for iOS. It's better than the stock iOS keyboard, can do Swype like gesture typing, and also lets you search google from the keyboard so you don't have to leave the text app to go to the web browser to find an animated gif to paste.

As opposed to what?

Google finances too, just not sure if that's only for Project Fi.

I mean, you're right the financing is really pointless. I usually pay off the phone in 3 months anyways just to be done with it. I just hate spending money on something that is going to be "obsolete" or "not new" in 6 months.

I am just weird, I guess.

I don't know if Project Fi is in my area and I honestly don't know if I would want it even if it were here.

Isn't it like 30 bucks a month and 10 bucks per gig of data used?

ETA: just checked my area; 3G. Sad panda.

Yeah. I'll admit, coverage is not as good as when I had VZW, but the price difference, international use and customer service is well worth the disparity.
