Anyway to update first generation iPad to newest version?

Just found an old iPad in my closet but it says it cant be updated anymore bc its a 1st gen. Anyway to override that?

I just charged up my Gen 1 after being dormant for 3 years. Powered up fine and runs...slowly!
I don't believe they have the "brains" to run iOS 7 or greater.

per this website you can't go beyond 5.1.1

Nope. I use my old iPad 1 as a wall mount tv above my tub, now. It runs netflix just fine.
Time to pay the piper and get a new one or a used one. I bought a used iPad 3 for $140 on amazon. Works great other than on this site.

damn....was hoping I could upgrade it but it will have to make do like it is. This thing has been and will continue to be great to me

I've got a Gen 1 iPad that probably hasn't seen the light of day in 6 months.
Any suggestions on what to do with it? Is jailbreaking an option? Is there any secondary/used market for one?
