Has anyone here used the Apple Recycling Program or a company like Gazelle to get rid of their old laptop?

I recently replaced my 2011 MBP with a new model and I have no use for the old one. The hard drive is on it's last legs (had to do a restore from backup about 2 months ago, but fully functional now) so I don't want to sell it to someone only to have it fail on them.

Pros/Cons?
What service would you recommend?

Back it up on Time Machine. Stick a new hard drive in there & sell it on EBay.

Sell it on eBay and explain that it will need a new hard drive soon (which is fine bc most will put a ssd in it). You should get better than those prices for it on eBay.
