We have Verizon Fios and I think we're paying for like 100MBPS. There's 4 of us living here and none of us are overly pleased with the performance. We have all our smartphones, 4 laptops, an Ipad, 360, and PS4 all hooked up. Obviously that's a lot of strain but its rare for all of us to be using it at once and it's still kind of slow with only 1 or 2 people on. I get the worst of it because my room is a good 40 feet from the router and they are all closer.

I tried searching google on ways to tinker with the settings but I'm scared to mess something up. We are in a building with hundreds of other tenants so I'm thinking maybe theres just too many signals interfering.

Thanks for any advice.

I switched the channel on mine, and didn't see any difference. What's weird is that my S4 and my tablet (both n) get around 40/11Mbps consistently all day an night, while my buddy's S6 and laptop get 95/20 sitting 10ft away. Can't figure that one out

Well thanks for the replies. I switched the channel and turned it to performance mode(found on some random youtube video) and it seems to be helping.

Channel congestion is a possibility, especially in an apartment complex with many competing wi-fi networks. Sadly almost all devices today still can use only the 2.4 GHz band which is why it's so congested. If your router is dual band, change your devices to connect at 5 GHz. If not you're stuck sharing your wi-fi with all the cordless phones and other crap that clutters up the 2.4 GHz band.
