Android OS Heavy Data Usage

Looking at data usage on my LG G3, Android OS has used 1 GB of the 2 GB's I have available. This is the first time I have had this problem. Internet search lead to Google Backup being the main culprit. I have turned that off and will watch usage.
As anyone else experienced this and found a different solution?

go to your data usage chart and it will tell you exactly what is using it. could be photo backup if you take a lot of photos. just switch it to only back up via wifi.

I'm also having this issue, all my phone says is that chrome is using the majority of the data.. I have used 3gb since the 22nd and I haven't streamed any movies or videos

Thanks for the response. This was noted in a couple of items I saw online, but the app that is listed as using the data is Android OS and all was done in the background. The option to make any changes to the app is greyed out so I am not able to do anything with that.
I checked my photo backup and it is set to wifi and Google Play updates are set to wifi only.
I will continue to watch and see what has happened with the changes I made to Google backup. Thanks again for the help.
