First year using this, Always get a ton of stuff from Amazon for Christmas and you can take their app and scan the barcode and it will tell you what's in it with a picture of the contents.

damn cool, love technology.

Will it only show if they are your orders? Would hate for the package delivery guys to see what I'm ordering.

Yeah you have to login with your credentials before you can you use. I have it tied to my thumbprint to login.

So...wouldn't anyone with an Amazon account be able to check an amazon box? How does it prevent that?

That's my question. Can I log into my account and see what is inside others' packages?

I think it is only for iOS at the moment. And you have to be logged into the Amazon app. So, it basically just shows the "view my order" screen when you scan the barcode. So, if it isn't your package, you won't see anything.

During the holiday season while you’re likely receiving multiple Amazon packages fairly regularly, this new feature will allow you to quickly sift through boxes so you can decide which ones need to be opened right away and which can wait. It’ll also allow you to keep presents concealed before you’re ready to start wrapping. No doubt this will add a bit of convenience to your Black Friday shopping this year … and it’s just cool technology.

It will only work on packages tied to your Amazon account so you don’t have to worry about your kids or spouse ruining any surprises (as long as you don’t share an account, that is).

Black Friday officially kicked off today at Amazon and is set to last longer than a month.

Amazon released a short promo video showing how Package X-Ray works:
