Activating old iphone

I'm giving one of my parents an old iPhone (5s) to replace their even older iPhone. Other than doing a backup and resetting the newer one, what do I need to do to activate the newer phone? It's AT&T fwiw.

Literally just go to any AT&T store they'll take care of everything in store

You can cut the SIM card to fit the new tray and it will work
