Put me down for Unai Emery. Second time's the charm, right?

Sure, but he's done quite well at Sevilla, considering their resources.

Nothing says Milano better than Brendan Rodgers.

Di Francesco

Kind of hope he doesn't move to Milan as it'd be great to see him be in position for a move to As Roma down the road.

I hear Rudi Garcia's name mentioned for Milan as well. I think he got a bit of bad rap at the end at Roma. He was solid when we ever had anything near a first choice lineup.

Really, I don't see any manager doing that well at Milan until they get a clearer picture of exactly how they want to rebuild the team and realize that it's not going to be overnight results just by plugging a new manager.

Di Francesco and it's not even close.

Prandelli would be sufficient as well, don't like the Donadoni rumors.

most importantly of all, bringing in Sabatini is the most important acquisition to be made.

Who knows what's going to happen with Sabatini at this point... He made the comment about stepping down in that pre-match interview and then kind of backtracked after Spalletti and (owner) Palotta publicly expressed their desire for him to stay.

I agree that Sabatini is arguably the best in the business of using the market to stockpile talent on a shoestring budget especially in the youth ranks.

Roma is pretty stacked with 17-20yo that are going to break out ala Marquinhos soon like Sanabria, Abdullahi Nura, Paredes, Ponce, Gerson, Umar Sadiq ect in addition to all the academy products. Some of these will be first team players for Roma soon while others may be moved to keep from losing guys already key to the first team like Pjanic, Manolas, Naingollan.

It's especially impressive considering he's not able to acquire these players through 3rd party ownership deals like Porto, Atletico etc can.

If he were to go to Milan though, it would take patience.

As much as Sabatini is a master at finding talent, he's had a lot of "misses" when it comes to bringing in the right couple of players in their prime to build the most balanced starting 11.

I think it's all the criticism that he may be better at "stockpiling" than "putting on the final touches" which caused him to consider stepping out at Roma.

A combo like Sabatini + Di Francesco is probably exactly what Milan needs.

However, the most important dynamic would be management allowing them the same growing pains Roma suffered. It took the third year before the "progress" really showed in first team results and the immediate effect was unloading lots of bad contracts and actually taking a step back on the pitch.

If that's not the consensus of the bosses at Milan, I'm not sure Sabatini is really the perfect choice.

I dunno, Comrade, but if they want to win, they'll get someone from Russia. Alan Dzagoev's dad or something.

Galliani's best work was when he was working in a partnership with either Braida or Leonardo. Think him and Walter would be able to work wonders, Galliani has connections with literally every director in Europe and is still invaluable to Milan, just needs someone to find him targets that aren't already playing in Italy.

Milan have already begun the process of purging all the deadweight/bloated contracts from the squad. Past summer saw Robinho, Essien, Muntari, Pazzo, Bonera, Zaccardo, Birsa, Rami, Agazzi, Didac, Saponara (get 30% of whatever Empoli sell him at so should be looking at a decent profit when he's moved on). Our summer mercato was essentially funded by wages that we were able to get off the books, our total addition was only 2.5m despite the fact that we 'spent' 85m in the summer.

LINK

Once Roma redeem Stephan (15m), possibly offload De Sciglio (~10m) and Adriano (10-15m) and maybe even Bacca (30m+), offload more of our dead weight (already got rid of De Jong and Nocerino, should see Mexes and either Zapata or Alex moved on, Ricky will be moved on or resigned on a lower wage, Boateng and Balotelli will leave) we will have the capability to spend heavily again this summer if Silvio does so choose. We're in a much better spot in regards to FFP than Roma were when Walter took over, and he'd have the ability to come in and immediately continue building our squad.

a few names that should get a look, if they are serious about competing:

Paulo Sousa
Frank de Boer
Christophe Galtier
Marcelino

Sousa maybe

No chance in hell for de Boer. Spalletti, Allegri, and Sarri would run absolute circles around him, as would Giampaolo, EdF, and Donadoni, there's a reason Ajax fans loathe him and want him to leave ASAP.

Galtier isn't good enough, there's numerous options that would be better suited already in Italy. Differences between Ligue 1 and Serie A are astronomical, would never succeed walking into a big club.

Marcelino's great, would take him but I doubt there's any interest in him leaving since Villarreal have CL all but locked up next season.

If Milan are serious about rebuilding, Silvio will bring in EdF, Giampaolo, Emery, or Sousa. EdF is the favorite at the moment and has by far the most potential of any option out there, the way Sassuolo have dominated big clubs this season is almost unprecedented for provincial sides.
