This is the tweet I saw which would explain my confusion
@BrianSciaretta: Potentially bad news for the #USMNT as Fabian Johnson suffers a torn calf muscle - could miss several weeks LINK

Jurgen is calling up Wooten for the September friendlies.

How do you know? He's been playing well that's for sure. Wouldn't mind seeing Bobby Wood if he keeps it up.
Also, apparently Rudy Gestede has an American grandparent and may have been eligible to represent US before choosing Benin. I read that in an article cited on his wiki page, from some Wales magazine or something. Not sure if would have even been possible but thought it was interesting.

Good to see him get a call up into camp, but if he's on the roster for these friendlies I have to question it. These 2 friendlies need to be treated as serious tune ups for the Mexico game. Not a chance to experiment and see what he can do.

Every game under Jurgen is an experiment lol

Ha. As I was typing that I was telling myself "stop kidding yourself you know it's going to happen just deal with it"

In the vein of "common sense things Jurgen should do but we know he won't," I'm still holding out an infintesimally small hope that Feilhaber gets a call up.

I gave up on that even though it makes sense:
- Wooten tearing up II Bundesliga - gets call up even though there are at least 5 strikers ahead of him right now
- Benny tearing up MLS - doesn't get a sniff even though we could use his creativity in a thin midfield that lacks it

Mix has been pretty average for NYCFC. It makes no sense for him to get a call up over Benny, who is literally the best American in MLS right now (including Bradley). But then again when Jurgen said others were just a little bit ahead of him, maybe he meant at the defensive mid position

Rumour going around that Arsenal has given up on Zelalem.

Dude, stfu. That's not even close to being true.

On loan to a club that plays against part-timers
Might as well be sending him to the Conference.
I await your spin of the above.

That's just a rumor and of course it involves rangers so you come here to suck yourself off to your ranger hate. Get over yourself.
Eta: glad to see you admit finally that Scottish soccer is absolute shite.

There's a massive difference between the SPFL and the Scottish Championship. The Scottish Championship involves a number of clubs that play part-time. The SPFL is all professionals. Sending him to the Scottish Championship is no different than sending him to the Conference.
If you think this move is anything other than Arsenal giving up on him, you're deluded.
