Dis anyone think Real Madrid's performance was stellar yesterday given their injuries and lack of subs?

I was very disappointed in Zidane's unwillingness to sub himself on

I don't even think the vast majority of Real Madrid fans would feel that way.

They didn't even win the match outright before a penalty shootout.

To be honest, they really didn't look that great throughout the entire CL knockout rounds-- especially in building up play through the midfield or beautiful combinations from the star studded attackers.

In that light, they certainly deserve credit for defending well and getting results even with the midfield and attack sputtering a bit but that's a backhanded compliment for Real Madrid.

How about Atletico played a really good match and were extremely unlucky not to win it???

they showed the players Simeone has lost and players he's made stars. Guy is on hell of a developer of talent.

Atletico did play very well.

However, if the question is about how Real Madrid played, I don't think many would be overjoyed with the bland performance from the midfield and attack.

It was really similar to all the matches I watched against Roma, Wolfsburg and Man City-- winning but not really looking all that fluid in the attack. (I did miss the Wolfsburg return fixture though out of those six matches though.)

It's certain to Real's credit that they found ways to win all the matches but again I'm not sure it was with the style they'd prefer given the talent.

Atletico went on the attack and forced Madrid into long ball attacks.

Everyone thought they would sit back and counter, but they went on the attack, and very unlucky not to win it out right.

I bet madrid, but Atletico was the better club

I was surprised at how the game yesterday played out after how the first 15 minutes went. Kind of want to second guess it, but Zidane at least approached Atletico differently. Watched too many games since that Copa del Rey final under Mourinho where Real Madrid outpossessed Atletico, failed to create any/convert their chances, and ultimately lost.

I'm confused. Does the "better team" ever actually win in soccer?
