Laugh all you want but Romero made huge saves for Argentina. He had an excellent tournament. Neuer is the winner I believe but Romero was great.

excellent clip to go with it.

Neuer

cool

Navas

maybe if the other two names were missing, but they chose the last of the 3 Concacaf goalies i would have had up for the award.

But seriously, Tim howard's effort against Belgium alone should win him that award
Or ole boy's against Brazil.

Neuer hasn't been asked to do too much besides randomly stand outside of the box for five minutes a game. He's had a few decent saves, but so did every goalkeeper besides Pletikosa.

Navas had a great tournament, but Costa Rica's defense was superb at holding a high line.

Romero saved two shitty penalties.

David Ospina had six more saves than Romero with a worse defense and against better competition.

Romero got nutmegged against Bosnia for a goal, conceded two against Nigeria, and nearly fumbled away the ball against Switerzland.

I think if you give the nod to Neuer, it's more about his involvement in the game than his saves.

This award should be given to all of CONCACAF.

No Howard no care. Seriously how did he not get a nomination?

You're ridiculous. Ospina catches a break due to bad defense, yet you criticize Romero for the Nigeria game? Argentina went with a more offensive game plan for that game knowing it would make them susceptible defensively.

My only criticism of Romero is he didn't come out during the Switzerland match. Other than that, he has been pretty solid. Imo, Neur has been the best.

And, the Swiss keeper had a better game against Argentina than Howard did against Belgium.

Eh, Argentina had plenty of players back for both goals. They had five players in the box when Musa scored his first, and the second goal was the result of extremely poor marking from midfield combined with intelligent movement from Musa. You can ascribe it to poor positional play, but both goals weren't the byproduct of their more attacking philosophy.

I certainly don't think Romero should be in the top three GK's of the tournament, especially considering the caliber of performances from some other keepers.

Both goals were counterattacks, and Gago in the midfield hurt our defense.

Both Neuer and Navas have been great. Kind of surprised Ochoa wasn't nominated.

In each Argentina had a massive numerical advantage. The second goal was extremely poor defending. The first was poor from Zabaleta, as he showed Musa onto his stronger foot.

A meaningless distinction, considering he has just been nominated for being the best GK at this WC, an honor he certainly does not deserve. I can think of six keepers who've had better performances. His play is the result of the defensive gameplan of the Argentinians, who are set up so that Messi can have as much influence as possible on the offensive end of the field. I do not think Romero has even been one of Argentina's best players.

I agree, unless he has the game of his life Sunday.
