Bruce Arena-Took us to the quarterfinals in the 2002 World Cup. I'd like to see what he could do now that we have more talent

Tab Ramos-Has been pretty good as the US U-20 manager

Caleb Porter

Marcelo Bielsa

Peter Vermes-Has turned Sporting KC into a dominant team

We'll have to wait about 9 months until the almost inevitable meltdown with Lazio occurs.

Klinsmann is not going anywhere until after the World Cup in 2018. However, because you asked:

Gregg Berhalter
Jay Heaps
Jason Kreis
Jesse Marsch
Carl Robinson
Dominic Kinnear
Pablo Mastroeni
Peter Vermes
Oscar Pareja
Ben Olsen
Caleb Porter
David Wagner

I am sure there are many other foreign managers (aside from Robinson & Pareja) out there with much more tactical acumen and personnel skills than Klinsmann that would like to have the job as well. Perhaps no world famous names but quality, lesser known managers.

I read that as Marcelo Balboa.

I would name my child Baby Cakes if Bielsa became our manager.

I would slow down a little with this.

Marcelo was a warrior for the USMNT.

Well, Vermes did turn SKC into a dominant team. They are struggling this year due to a variety of factors, primarily the lack of execution by Dwyer and the regressed quality of Feilhaber.

there's really no reason to hire any of those people when we can hire anyone on this board for probably less than 100k and they will do a way better job than Klinsmann

Obviously Klinsmann is unassailable in his decision making.

Sporting KC:

2014: 14-13-7 (5th East)
2015: 14-11-9 (6th West)
2016: 6-8-3 so far.

They have not been dominant since the MLS cup win and thats 2 1/2 season ago.

Going to be interesting to see what he does with Lazio next season. I think they may be a bit too dysfunctional at the top though to last long before a falling out like he had at Marseilles.

When it seemed that Bob Bradley was going to be replaced, I recall posting here that the US should make a serious run at attracting someone like Ranieri or Lippi.

Not sure that's really the way to go in terms of the big picture but they are certainly managers who I think could have taken what Bradley was doing to the next level in terms of drilling tactics.

Really though, there seems little chance the US fan base would have welcomed a manager like Ranieri at the time. There were very few dissenting voices to the consensus that the US needed to play an exiting, wide open attacking style like people liked to watch in the EPL or Bundelsiga.

The one thing that gives me pause about what to consider in a new manager is that JK has actually "recruited" some good players.
Are guys like Brooks, Jones or Johnson US players otherwise?? To have someone who can continue to do that on some level would be helpful.

Yet he did make them dominant. That is all I am saying.

If you have ever heard Jermaine Jones speak you will notice a pronounced German accent. It is like listening to Christoph Waltz.

JJ would have been on Bob's 2010 team but he was hurt.

pretty sure Brooks was already testing the waters on our youth teams when jurgen was hired.

you could put Fabian in klinsy's column, but outside of that, he hasnt really recruited anyone who's broken through. Johannson, i guess, but jury's still out there as well.

Really interested to see Bielsa at Lazio. Bielsa is a genius, but he never seems to win anything. I personally think he asks too much of his players physically to execute his often correct tactical gameplans.

When this board saw that Klinsmann was playing Beckerman and Bradley together in midfield and Wondolowski up top everything unfolded almost exactly as the board feared. I have to give the posters credit for spotting the obvious because apparently not everyone can see it. I am not pointing the finger at any specific person.

Brooks chose the US mostly because of Thomas Rongen.

That's a good point. Especially when the players are asked to be at that physical level every few days over the course of a season.

Seems Chile also have the good fortune of a lot of quality players more than willing to work like maniacs for the shirt -- which is harder to "buy".

However, if I were a Sheik or Russian oil oligarch, I'd love to try. Instead of just packing a team with the most in-demand superstars, hire Bielsa and spread the money to a full rotation of younger elite players along some technically skilled warrior types like Vidal, Nainggolan, Allan and attackers like Sanchez, Salah, Cavani etc who would seemingly run wind sprints from touchline to touchline for 90 minutes if asked.
