Emotion overload
Yeah, that goal taught me that it's impossible for me to die from excitement.
In fact, I might remember that the most when looking back.

I think for America, the turning point (at least moving forward) has to be Julian Green's goal. For him to come in and score damn near immediately shows that we have the base talent to make a team that this nation will always remember. Once that goal was scored, we started launching shots and controlling the ball like nobody's business. Even though it turned out to be too little, too late, it showed that we have the capacity to turn up the heat. I am INCREDIBLY excited to watch the USMNT going forward.

If you're picking just one moment: 7-1
For me personally, I'll remember the last 10 minutes vs. Belgium of USA busting their arse. That was inspiring.

I don't have a defining moment yet because I'm still trying to digest everything I saw over the last month.
The only thing I have right now is that entire event was spectacular. From the coverage (good luck trying to do better than that Fox), to the atmosphere, to the games, the goals, the level of play, the drama, how it ended....Everything was awesome.
I also thought ESPN's closing montage was pretty good in trying to capture the entire essence of this world cup. I'm sad it's over.

He only played for 15 minutes, but I thought Green played great and was a difference maker even if you look past the goal.

USA Moment: The Portugal Equalizer. IMO, that goal was emblematic (basically a cold shower) that we haven't arrived yet as a serious contender on the world soccer scene. Didn't have many good moments after losing the 2 points vs. Portugal.
Overall WC Moment: 7-1 Germany. The defining game of the tournament.
Goal: RVP vs. Spain. How many goals have you seen like that? Seal header FTW.

Sadly, the one image that will run through my head most from the cup was Ronaldo's cross. Uuugh. But other than that I'll remember the look on Brooks' face, the 3rd and 4th German goals and the looks on the fans faces, and James' goal. So basically the same things as everyone else.
But I think the moment that may be the most significant historically and the real defining moment was Messi's miss at the start of the 2nd half in the final. Does he ever miss chances like that? If he finishes and Argentina hangs on to win from there (definitely far from guaranteed) then he's cemented himself at least in the discussion of GOAT. If he never wins a World Cup, he'll always have that knock on his resume that other legends don't. His legacy and the chance for Argentina to win the Cup in Brazil hinged on that moment.

Good point. That miss will haunt him. I was somewhat surprised he didn't try to chip the keeper , but then again it was that freak Neuer.

Being at Finn McCools in NO. Especially after the Ghana game when a guy next to me who looked like the ringleader of SAMCRO grabbed the smallest guy in the bar and hoisted him on his shoulders.

Don't let James get lost in the shuffle
I'll always remember the rvp header, Dempsey humping the ball in, Howard going super man, esp vs Belgium, the bite, 7-1, Klose and his terrible flip..

For me, Jones goal and the celebration were
I choose to remember the good times. What the hell is wrong with some of you guys?

He still has probably one more World Cup to make up for it.

USA: Dempseys early goal. Set the tone, and I felt like 4 years worth of questions were answered.
International: Spain getting demolished. I was dead certain Brazil wasn't getting past Columbia, so I wasn't terribly surprised by Germany crushing Brazil other than the score line.
On the other hand, Spain's super team getting embarrassed blew my mind. Three trophies, world class players at every position, dominance of la liga last year, plus a true number 9 made me think they would cakewalk to the semis and probably win the whole thing.
They then decided to get embarrassed not in the semis, but the group stages.
Honorable mention Gotze.

There were so many fantastic games this WC. I'll remember this cup as being the most entertaining of our lifetime.

For the whole tournament it has to be Brazils flameout....I was mixed on them going into the tournament, and definitely not high on them as the tournament went on, but that semifinal game may have been the most shocking sporting result I've ever seen, that'll be talked about 50 years from now
