This question is for anybody because I don't know much about soccer but donovan said the ref didn't even tell them what the call was on that third goal the ref took away. Do the refs really not have to explain themselves on calls?

I was wrong, he didn't call the slide. He called holding on a defender on the US it seems. That's my best guess. It is the one that happened right in front of his POV, and the linesman needs to call those holds.

its pretty disheartening to see how good we can be when we play aggressive and 90% of the time we dont play that way

1 US foul doesn't make up for at least 5 by Slovenia. It was one big clusterfrick and we got hosed. If anything it should be a no call, and the goal stands. I have no fricking clue how the ref called anybody for a foul when everybody was fouling. Well except our guys in blatant headlocks.

wouldn't a tie for the england game just be the best scenario today?

An England loss would be the best scenario since we would control our own destiny vs Algeria.

The standing would be
Slovenia-4
Algeria-3
US-2
England-1

If us and England win next week, then:
US-5
England-4
Slovenia-4
Algeria-3

IF US and Slovenia win next week, then:
Slovenia-7
US-5
Algeria-3
England-Mass riots

I'd say it's pretty typical of refs not to explain calls to players. However, the broadcast said it was offside, then Roberto Martinez said after the game there was actually a foul called. For such a big moment with so little clarity as to what happened, the ref owes an explanation of the call and who it was on if he believes he saw anything.

If England and Algeria tie:

Then if England loses to Slovenia, we are likely through with a tie?

We are in pretty good shape really. But have to win on Wednesday.

If England wins they will have 4 points with slo. If we win we will have 5 points. If this happens it doesn't matter what happens in the England slo game if we win by 2 or more. That is a big if.

If England and slo tie and we win 1-0 then it gets interesting.

To be safe, if we win Wednesday, just hope for no tie with the eng/slo match.

Actually, unless England-Slo play to a 2-2 (or higher) tie, I think we just have to win and score at least 2 goals. It could be 2-1, 3-2, 11-10 and we would advance based on the total goals scored.

I have never seen a team like the U.S. have such luck with a bunch of scrubs as players. That's twice they were outclassed and managed to fluke their way to a tie. I got Algeria by 3 next week. What you guys think?

Banned for what? You can't ban someone for speaking their mind. Especially when it's the truth. I thought this was a democracy.

Flaming. Look it up. It happens all the time. If you keep it up it will happen to you.
