I don't know a whole lot about our U-teams, but is the forward position so bad in our younger pool that Sargent had to play in the tournament (I believe it was the U-20 World Cup) this summer and now this?
Or is it that he's so good, they wanted him to gain experience in that event?

Three Atlanta United players. Not bad for a first-year team that was destined to fail by many on this here board.
Carleton finna EAT.

He's pretty good, and the U20 group needed an extra forward threat, especially after a few players weren't released by their clubs (Haji Wright).
Sargent scored 4 goals as one of the youngest players in the tournament.

I hadn't seen a lot of Sargent until that tournament and for me he was easily the most impressive player on the team, along with Luca De La Torre.

Dude, Atlanta United is a failure. They don't play on real grass.

I thought the exact thing too. And speaking of, has de la torre been playing at all for Fulham? I thought he looked comfortable on the ball and really shifty at the WC.

Who's this kid from Savannah?

I think he's one of the younger guys on the team. Turns 17 in February. His parents are from Bulgaria. There was talk of him signing with Aston Villa at one point, not sure where that stands right now.

Sargent is signing with Werder Bremen when he turns 18 in February.

I haven't seen him in the lineup and I check pretty frequently.

The amount of MLS academy kids is very encouraging. You weren't seeing that to this extent even 5 years ago. The investment is working.
Whether we watch MLS, USL, etc. or not, I think we can all agree that it's great that American clubs are getting better at developing young talent. That will pay dividends in the long haul for American soccer.
I know on the women's side, US Soccer just launched the Development Academy system for girls this week. Exciting times all around for American youth soccer. The system is getting better each year.

I remember when we were at the standard of Women's soccer.

Yeah, back when we were the only country that played.
Since we're on the subject of women's soccer, I watched most of the UA/LSU game last night. Damn, women's college soccer is absolutely terrible. Possibly the worst game I've ever watched, and I've watched U8s and U10s this week.
