BREAKING: UEFA confirm #ChampionsLeague seeding system will change next season. The holders and top 7 champions will be in pot 1.

There will be pros and cons. Will be less complicated. And I like that it places a reward on winning your domestic league.

I agree it would have its ups and downs and a lot of the movement wouldn't make THAT big of a deal still not able to play against teams from your own league. The big teams affected look like it would be the teams just missing out on the league titles with high coefficients (Barcelona, Chelsea) where they could potentially get a Bayern Munich or Real Madrid that they were avoiding still being in pot 1.
Based on last season's winners this years pots would be:
Pot 1: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, PSG, Benfica, Juventus, CSKA Moscow
Pot 2: Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, Porto, Schalke, Dortmund, Shaktar, Basel
Pot 3: Zenit, Leverkusen, Ajax, Liverpool, Olympiacos, Sporting CP, Galatasaray, Bilbao
Pot 4: Anderlecht, Roma, APOEL, BATE Borisov, Monaco, Malmö, Ludogorets, Maribor

City would have avoided Bayern (and Real, Atl, Juve, PSG) this year. Suppose they could have ended up with Barcelona, but less likely. It also means that Arsenal and Chelsea could get all those 1 seeds.
Don't think it will impact United's friendlies in Saudi Arabia.

Will be in Europe after Christmas. Your team?
Limiting it solely to Champions stops cringe-worthy displays like Arsenal's celebrations a few years ago for coming in fourth.
