WTFOMG

BARCA: Valdes, Alves, Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Messi, Mascherano, Busquets, Pedro, Adriano, Abidal

ARSENAL: Szczesny, Diaby, Sagna, Cesc, Koscielny, Rosicky, Nasri, v Persie, Wilshere, Djourou, Clichy

Subs; #fcb: Pinto Bojan Keita Milito Maxwell Affellay Thiago.
#afc Almunia Denilson Squillaci Arshavin Eboue Chamakh Bendtner

did not see that lineup coming. Rosicky and Diaby? They make me nervous, but I'm in dreamland with RvP and Cesc fit to start

No worries. It was reported he made the trip, but the fact that he is starting is shocking to me.

Rosicky starts as well. @Marcotti confirmed my suspicion that it was for Arshavin.

Barca: Valdes, Alves, Adriano, Busquets, Abidal, Mascherano, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Messi, Villa.

I kind of like Rosicky for Arshavin. He's better defensively. Diaby is an interesting choice. Definitely a better player than Denilson, but I'm unsure how he will match up against Barca. Denilson's really, really poor give aways in his own half against Sunderland probably hurt his chances to play today.

Yeah I have to think Rosicky is playing to help keep Alves in check more whether it is Rosicky or Nasri on the left. Still a bit of surprise but Arshavin will be a nice option off the bench in the second half.

I like Diaby overall better than Denilson but it is hard to know what you are ever going to get from either one. I tend to side towards talent more and Diaby is simply more talented. Hopefully we get good Diaby today. I'm nervous.

I see the logic behind Rosicky being more of a defensive stratagem. I just hope his passing in the attack is sharper than it has been.

Also encouraging:

@OptaJose
2 - This is only the 2nd time that Barça start a competitive game with Abidal & Busquets as centre backs. Experiment.

How often does Adriano play LB?

Just realized Barca isn't starting Maxwell. Can't say I know anything about Adriano.

And I've been pretty critical of Rosicky this season, he hasn't been good for the most part IMO. He worries me.

I think that's the position he sees most of the time. Most of his appearances have been in Cup games for Barca (seven domestic cups apps, 22 total apps this season). I'm eager to see him potentially buckle under the pressure of this match.

Adriano has really been impressive in his few starts lately, though he usually comes in for Alves on the right.

One good thing about Rosicky is that he moves the ball quickly, which will help when we are tight and under pressure. His passing has been off, but he's decent in terms of positioning. If only he could magically regain his 2007 form for this game.
