So I am watching an old documentary titled 'The death of Yugoslavia'. Very interesting piece. It got me to thinking what the best team from that pool of talent would be. I came up with :
GK- Handanovic (Slovenia)
Def - Ivanovic (Serbia) Nastasic (Serbia) Lovren (Croatia) Kolarov (Serbia)
MF- Matic (Serbia) Pjanic (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Rakitic (Croatia) Modric (Croatia)
FW- Dzeko (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Mandzukic (Croatia)
GK- Handanovic (Slovenia)
Def - Ivanovic (Serbia) Nastasic (Serbia) Lovren (Croatia) Kolarov (Serbia)
MF- Matic (Serbia) Pjanic (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Rakitic (Croatia) Modric (Croatia)
FW- Dzeko (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Mandzukic (Croatia)

CB: Neven Subotic (Serbia)

They'd also have Jovetic and/or Hamsik that may start instead of Dzeko and Madzukic together. Savic would be in CB rotation... off the top of my head.

Hamsik is Slovakian, so not part of Yugoslavia.
You are right about Savic and Jovetic though. Josip Ilicic and Zoran Tosic would be some options off the bench.

Pretty sure a united Yugoslavia would have probably won the 98 WC. That Croatia team was stacked. Add in the rest of the countries and it would have been very good.

I'm not entirely sure about that lol. They definitely don't have as many fatties though.

When this comes up I include Zlatan because he moved because of the war

Robert Prosinecki was the boss. Eastern Euro version of Zidane.
