Yeah back around the time he was featuring in gold cup 07 for the nats he was being strongly linked with Everton. Pretty sure Simek actually came from arsenal (and Spector from united). Unfortunately, injuries got the best of both of them, they should be in their prime right about now.

The negative is that he isn't able to get the minutes with Bolton.

And certainly isn't guaranteed minutes at his new club.

For reference, please see the following cases:

Altidore, Jozy v. Xerez (2009)
Bradley, Michael v. Aston Villa (2011)

Who are the two players ahead of him at Bolton? Pratley and Mavies?

Thanks

I just read the article on Bolton offering Holden an extension as well. Sounds like the loan is a good deal for everyone involved, so long as stu comes back match fit.

Simek was one of my early lessons in "the next big thing."

I didn't start following soccer until after Simek had gotten injured. According to his brother he was pretty close to a move to Everton before he f'd up his ankle.

Also, when he was with Arsenal he only finished behind Thierry Henry in the pacer test. He got one real cap in a cup match and after the game Patrick Viera came up and patted him on the back and told him he had a great game.

I feel your pain. Every year I hope Leeds pulls it together and comes back up and every year I'm disappointed.

As far as Holden, it's good to see Bolton plan to extend him. Hopefully the deal is signed before the loan begins so that he's guaranteed a spot regardless of what happens at Wednesday.
