Say a player is already on a yellow, and while being subbed off receives a second yellow (thinking of something like wasting time walking off or when Sergio Ramos was leaving the field against Barcelona and arguing, except being subbed off not sent off). Would the team have to play a man down or would it not change anything, and that player is just suspended for the next game?

Pretty sure Tim Cahill got a red after being subbed off earlier this year. Cant remember, but i think the sub counted and he was just suspended going forward.

Eta.

Depends on whether or not he had crossed the line. If the player received the second yellow after crossing the line, then it functions like a manager being sent to the stand.

That's what I figured, but wasn't sure.

It would be funny to see a player on a yellow pick up another yellow for dissent, while walking towards touchline. It result in his team playing a man down, and, more importantly, a very awkward moment for the incoming substitute.

I feel like this is a very Leeds scenario.
