We didn't build one fricking stadium for 1994 WC. Not one. Why does FIFA have to mandate world class stadia these days? We are going ignore Brazil's abject poverty so we can build stadia with no club teams (Manaus, Cuiaba, Brasilia). Genius. Qatar using slave labor? Really? That is just what they need to do to afford these games afterthey bribed everyone and their brother.

I can't believe Qatar as actually hosting this thing. I was really optimistic that it would fall through.

2022 is still a long ways off, it could definitely still fall through I suppose. I mean what would it hurt if Qatar spent a crap ton of money for zero reason? I doubt their crumbling economy would hurt anything.

I feel like the US, England and a few other countries would only need about a weeks notice to put a WC on.

The funny thing is that FIFA has actually OBJECTED to Manaus being used for the soccer tournament in the 2016 Olympics. Now THAT takes trolling to another fricking level.

I recall a few months Blatter said uraguay was too small to host the World Cup ever again.

Yet somehow Qatar isn't.

Well, in their defense, Qatar doesn't have 90+ already-built 50,000+ seat stadiums that are used regularly. They do have cash and hookers though and FIFA loves cash and hookers.

Unless Russia actually starts a world war, it seems pretty silly to think a boycott may actually happen. This isn't the Olympics.

FIFA will ban teams for so long if they boycott. Not happening.

Not if some of the big boys boycott. Now I doubt that actually happens but that is what should happen.

Way too many skeletons in the closet for FAs to encourage a boycott. Too much cash, hookers, and coke on video.

Does that mean FIFA should only grant countries that wouldn't be financially burdened by a World Cup the opportunity? No.
