Possible New Club Options For Jozy

Adrian Melville of ESPNFC recently discussed possible destinations for Jozy. I thought about posting this in the stickied Americans Abroad thread but decided to create a separate thread for this discussion because it is all hypothetical.

First, it has been reported that Burnley has inquired about acquiring Jozy. We all know that Burnley is terrible and may not be ideal but at this point I think it can be condensed down to two objectives for Jozy: 1) he needs to play; 2) in a competitive league. Ideally he would go to a place that could provide a decent midfield but that is just a bonus at this point. Melville's thoughts:

1) Nantes. Good, solid competition; devil of a time scoring goals, need strikers.

2) Monaco. Lots of flux; chance for someone to come in and step up; CL.

3) Genoa. Good competition; need help scoring goals.

My thoughts are that Burnley would be better than Sunderland although I think moving out of the Premier League would be best. I like the idea of Nantes in Ligue 1, it seems to offer the right combo of competition and chance to play at this point. I don't follow Monaco; my initial thought would be that he would ride the bench there. Genoa may be a good possibility but I think Ligue 1 may be a better fit than Serie A for Jozy.

Thoughts?

If people hadn't given up ESPNFC for dead after their manager rankings, this moronic list should put the final nails into the coffin.

He should play in the Championship. His physicality would be more effective there I think.

He would never play at Monaco.

Jozy looks so much better when I see him play with Landon. His hold-up where he basically forced it to Landon was incredible. Class act there.

Unfortunately, Jozy does not seem to be a good finisher right now. He is definitely our best option and his hold up play is massive, but I do not think he will ever just bang in goals for us. Still like him as a player though.

He was the second-leading scorer in the Dutch league a little over a year ago. I think we can give him some more time before saying he should come back to MLS.

Places where I can see him playing for a near top team and be productive are SPL, Dutch/ Belgium League, or any Scandinavian League. I don't care if he plays in the Champions League I just want him to go to some league and be the leading goal scorer.

I don't even know. The whole Jozy saga makes me want to puke. He just has been in horrible situations in the Premier League. I'd just love for him to dominate in the Dutch league against. Hell, go play for Galatasaray or something. He's good. He just can't seem to compete at the very highest level.

I agree. The guy is only 24 years old. I think he deserves and needs one more shot in Europe.

So no one thinks Ligue 1 would be a good fit? I think he would do well in the Championship or Eredivisie of course but I would like to see him a notch higher in competition for a little more challenge. I do think the Premier is just too much for him and he needs to move out.

Personally I would love to see him go to France, get his confidence back, and then try his hand in Germany or Italy or even *gasp* England with a team that doesn't have shite service.

He's 24? At this point in his career he has played in one of the toughest leagues and with relatively good players. I would rather him play in a crappy league that's near MLS quality and score goals, then sit behind great strikers and waste more years of non soccer playing.
I hope I have to eat my own words about this, but he's not going to ever start for an BPL, La Liga, League 1, Bundasliga, or Seira A team that's not going to get relegated or transitioning between strikers and he is just filling in. That's alright with me as long as he scores for the USMNT.

Why would NYRB sign him? They don't need scoring help.
