1) We embraced our Messiah and he shall take us to the promised land in his loving arms

2) We got to watch Wondolowski get publicly burned at the stake for his shank against Belgium

3) We can officially retire our players that were right on the verge of international retirement that proved they wont be useful in world cup 2018

4) International experience isnt a real key to our younger players development if they play in a competitive league overseas. Other countries have players that get their first caps in their 30s and play well

5) We didnt lose 7-0

Feel free to add anything i missed

This is the only positive I took away from last night

We have no guarantees that Beckerman doesn't start the first game in 2018. Klinsmann loves the guy and if we have injury issues I could see it happening. That's two years away, so a lot can happen between now and then. I hope I'm wrong but again with Jurgen we have no guarantees.

They should have been retired directly after the 2014 World Cup.

There's really no positives other than not being as shameful as Mexico.

Still it showed we are still nowhere near being able to consistently play with the best and haven't really improved at all in the last decade plus.

It made me more aware that we are a few generations away from being able to compete with or be on the level of an Argentina or good European team. That gap looks smaller if we have a decent tactical game plan, but our strategy last night made the gap look even bigger.

Michael Bradley is one game closer to retirement.

I've been kinda on the fence about how much we have improved since I really started following soccer, at least internationally, around the 2002 WC.

My general thought has been we are about the same if just looking at the first team but that we are deeper and more talented down the line now but if Wondo and Beckerman are our first two options off the bench I don't even know if I can say that with any confidence anymore.

Bradley and Bruce at least were pragmatic enough to allow us to play to our relative strengths.

They shouldn't be our first option off the bench, but for some reason Jurgen thinks they are.

We are still better than 2002. We won our group of columbia paraguay and costa rica n then beat ecuador. Last world cup we advanced out of Germany portugal and ghana and took a good belgium team to extra time. I think the problem is in the soccer world the gap between the haves and have nots is widening as a whole

We didn't play well at all in the last World Cup. We should have lost to Ghana, got destroyed by Germany, and could barely get it out of our own half against Belgium.

The only game we really played well in was against a Portugal team with a 50% Ronaldo.

Such a miserable viewpoint.

They also played players in their natural positions. We lack pragmatism these days and we don't have the talent to make up for it.

When people talk about how bad we are i wonder if they have watched other teams vs Germany, Spain, Argentina. Germany had 1 player with more passes completed than Northern Irelands entire team in their last game. Noone is matching these teams straight up.

We had only 41% possession, 21 shots to 8. Once Jozy went down, we basically had to defend the rest of the game because we didn't have a plan B.

And this was a Ghana team that wasn't as good as they were in 2006 or 2010.

I am glad we won. Don't get me wrong, I celebrated just as much as everyone else, but let's not be afraid to call a spade a spade.

1 game missing 3 starters against a team that has only lost like in extra time in the world cup finals and in penalties in last years copa doesnt define the state of US soccer

I understand your point but we have 350 million people and the best resources in the world. We shouldn't be saying "well look this is happening to Northern Ireland too".

Spain outpassed croatia 616 to 244 yesterday. We arent as good as croatia. Croatia found a way to win tho. We were outpassed 680 to 318. The difference is we were missing the players we needed to make our passes count due to cards, and argentina had messi who created crazy chances and goals
