Pick up soccer

Look up the LSU pick up soccer group on Facebook. They arrange games almost every day, usually somewhere around LSU. Will be more active once school starts soon though.

Is it required to be somewhat good? I can't imagine I'm any good at all

You should be fine if you're playing pick up. The biggest thing is just going to be to work hard. Don't spend too much time on the ball. Take a touch. Get your head up. Make a smart pass. I would recommend staying near the back and defending. A lot of people at pick up don't defend, and you can endear yourself to people pretty quickly if you defend admirably. If you do find yourself further up the pitch, just track back and defend when your team loses the ball. Keep it simple and you'll be fine.

I wonder if we've played out there together.

I remember playing pickup a couple times at LSU and there were always some douches playing "goalie" in front of the small goals that aren't meant to have goalies. Do people still do that?

It'll still happen from time to time unfortunately.
Most times somebody will tell the guy something though.

Cops got called on us one time by one of the BRSC coaches (he was pissed because it had rained and we were tearing up the field).

That was a funny sight to witness

I graduated in 2011 but basically started the group. It's gotten bigger since I left LSU.
