Well that's a part of being organic. If it's wanted it will stay. It's not been a long time so we'll see what happens. I like it because I feel it's something that's pertaining to NYC and not MCFC and any other artificial label stamped on us. For me it really picked up with the Pigeon Vs Eagle in the NYCFC vs DCU game where we shat on them graciously. It was a great moment.

Almost every team's nicknames originate from their locale moreso than anything specific about the team. And the point of the team being New York City FC is that it represents New York City and pigeons are more a part of the culture here than anywhere else.

Blues is boring and obvious. I like Pigeons because I can't think of another team that has a Pigeon nickname or image connected to it. Even though people don't like Pigeons, it's unique. It was originally meant as an insult, but now it's got some charm to it.
