The stadium vote failed 53-47 tonight. A good handful of cities should be pretty happy right now.

I still have no clue why the MLS is trying to expand as fast as possible.

St. Louis is such a disappointment. They have taken forever to get something going and it seems they're missing the boat. They are such a hotbed that I feel like soccer in this country could really benefit from them having a top division team. Oh well, maybe they can do the lower tier, grass roots thing like Cincinnati and also just have an awesome academy system or something.

I heard the Owners of FC St.Louis, will build a stadium regardless. They just hoped for some tax incentives and cash to help build.

We'll see if my connection is correct in FC St.Louis brass.

dude its all fricked up due to how stl works. MLS only wants st louuis city to hold the team. Stl city has 320k ppl. for the most part most are not supportive of the sport of soccer.

The county has 2.5 million people, id say 75% in favor of soccer. MLS doesnt like "how far it is to downtown". Most cities i agree but this isnt how it works here.

Of course I know the HISTORY of US soccer. But your city apparently doesn't.

And if you meant for your post to be in regards to historical support, then you should have said so. Because it's not like you guys were in the top 3 for USL attendance last year.

Yeah downtown St. Louis isn't great but all the other stadiums are downtown aren't they? It is a central location for the whole metroplex as well. It's not that great of a downtown in general though.

The soccer culture in St. Louis was amazing and was probably the best thing about living there.

I heard they got the ghetto dwellers out to vote against. Bused them to the polls.

From a guy i know at Edward Jones, this was a sweat heart deal for City, they basically would of owned Stadium/ with out having to fund for future repairs or upgrades, and would of held title to team, so no moving.

Oh, I'm sure your billionaire owners will come out and magically find the money after asking the ghetto dwellers to foot the bill for them. And it will hang over your team's ethos for the forseeable future.

then you would know the city pop. is 320k(only 1/3 support anything not mike brown related) and the rest who want soccer but cant vote(and would make 70% of season tickets) around 2.5 million have to sit in silence

except they put NOTHING into the city, well, except crime, record numbers of crime.

But hey, that counts for something, right?
