I'm not sure honestly. I was wondering the same thing and even Googled to see if anyone else was talking about Mainz pumping in crowd noise but found nothing. You still can hear all of the yelling on the field for sure. They must have some sound engineer doing it because there was a boo after a foul on a Mainz player.

Wow that's interesting. It makes sense that the Bundesliga is offering the crowd noise to broadcasters worldwide thinking about it but my dull brain wasn't able to come to that conclusion while watching. Hopefully the EPL does the same if and when they do restart. Although itll never make up for the lost crowd, it does help a bit.
