City are playing like LSU--they didn't really get their heads into the game until about the 35:00 mark. Too late by then against a quality opponent.

I'm fine with it not being a pen because Dzeko wasn't really in a threatening position but Pool could have had zero complaints if it had been called.
However, that was a outrageously wild challenge in the box and it actually was much worse than it looked with Dzeko trying to jump over it like he did. If he stays on his feet and lets Sakho come through him it's a clear pen and certain yellow at least.

I think in a game that was not as important as this, that would have been called a penalty. We all know that, for the most part, officials call big games a little differently. They usually let the players play a little more--no matter the sport.
It would have been harsh, but I don't think many would have disagreed with a pk being given there. There have been much worse penalties given.

Yet the whole Sky panel which has two liverpool legends said it was a pk. Just STFU, they even said Dzeko should have gone down earlier and not tried to hurdle him.

I think what kept the Clattenberg from calling it was sakho made the challenge, missed Dzeko and the ball, then just clipped him so the harshest part of the challenge didn't even touch him. Just that last clip got him.

Exactly. It looked 10x worse than it was. If Dzeko leans in for contact, that's a pen. Easily.
