Lionel Messi's ankle

So the tackle on Messi has left him with strained interior and exterior ligaments in his ankle and not a broken ankle and/or torn ligaments. He should be back in about two weeks...maybe in time to travel to play Rubin Kazan..but it's up to Pep Guardiola when he comes back.
Oh yes...and hello everyone

Yeah i saw the foul on tv and they showed his ankle. Honestly I thought he had broken his ankle like Valencia...but alas it's "just" a sprain.

It looked bad. Aren't those types of sprains potentially worse long-term than breaks?

Broken bones heal harder than the original, but the type of injury Messi has is the sort where (when he eventually can) putting weight on it helps. I think 2 weeks is an optimistic estimate, he'll be playing in pain and probably with some swelling if he's back that soon, I'd say 3 weeks is more realistic and about 6 weeks before he's fully recovered.

Sport.es has a video of him walking into the hospital to get a MRI so he's able to put weight on it, albeit with a lot of tape.

it was really ugly. glad he'll only be out a short time, he's too great a player to watch to wish anything bad on him, though i do hope it produces difficulty for you guys until he's back.
btw, glad you found the site again we were just talking about you. welcome back

Well I'm sure you'll want me gone again when we get into the meat of La Liga.
