I can guarantee you I've watched both guys play more than you have. They're pretty equal but Dolo is on the decline because he's old as shite. Chandler had a bad game, shite happens. Name one defender who's never been megged.

Well, Cherundolo's still recovering from injury, so Chandler was the better option today.

Not to mention the dude flew in Monday evening from Europe, immediately hopped on another plane to Honduras. Didn't even practice except a walk through yesterday. We'll be fine when we get a little more cohesiveness.

Even if Dolo is better, he was not match fit. Furthermore, at least Timmy's arse is capped.

I never want to see Edu in a national jersey ever again.

Also, to the Altidore contingent:

Edu was a serious upgrade over Williams today. Actually completed passes.

Offensively, yes. Defensively, absolutely not.

And I'd be fine with freezing Jozy out until the next cycle. Shitty attitude, shitty decision making (remember the backheel?), shitty effort (the guy didn't even JOG until Dempsey scored).

Posted by LSUButt Jozy had no balls come even close to him on runs. Williams and jones combined with Bradley's bad play killed any chance of him doing anything. Half the balls he receives were around midfield. I thought he ran around playing defense way more than he should have. Today was just a shitty game, we need to forget about it and move on

Another game for Jozy, another excuse for him not impacting the game.

Newsflash: THE MIDFIELD SUCKS. If Jozy needs great service, he might as well not play for the US right now.

We don't have any guys who can remotely create for themselves up top, would Herc really be of any value either?

We shouldn't need defensive help when we start 8 fricking DMs.

Agree 100% mostly because of this:

Jozy Altidore completed more passes (23) than both Jermaine Jones (19) and Danny Williams (18). Yes our lazy forward who deserves to be freezed out completed more passes than two of our three center midfielders.

He also had a nice layoff to Jones before Jones found Dempsey for our goal.

That doesn't really say much when you aren't in a possession based system. Shots (1) is the important stat. Anyone who has eyes can confirm that he put in little effort, especially compared to GAM.

NICE. He was also pressuring the Honduran defenders when they had the ball early on. Those are things I like to see.

What is a CF supposed to do to contribute? Play back, get the ball inside our own box, jog up the field by himself with the ball, muscle through defenders all the way to the opposing goal, shoot, score?

He was inferior in virtually every statistical category when compared to Dempsey and Gam except for passing (which means NOTHING when you play in a long-ball system - which, let's be honest, is what we played).

He can't do much when he's starved for the ball.

Jermaine Jones only completed 65% of his passes and lost the ball or was tackled 15 times. That's absolutely pathetic.

Compare that to Jozy who only lost the ball seven times.

At least Danny Williams was tidy with his passing. He only misplaced three of his 22 total passes.

Look at where he's getting his goals this season for AZ. Almost all of them are inside the box. Do you expect him to shoot whenever he gets the ball with his back to the goal 30 yards out?

Herc scored a free kick to win a qualifier. I'm not saying Herc is the answer, but he usually contributes.

What other statistical categories? The only thing I can think of is movement, but I don't know how to quantify that without watching a second time.

And that is exactly why he shouldn't be playing. Look at his heat map - he spent less than 5% of his time inside the box.

Well you can look at the heat map.

Key passes, headers won, flick-ons, tackles, possessions lost, fouls won, etc.
