last good film book I read was probably The Age of Movies: Selected Writings of Pauline Kael posthumous-release. it has some of her longer form pieces of writing on books from film from the 60s until she died. she's blessed with a beautiful critical brain

We talking about Bertulucci in this bitch? I watched Antonioni's La Notte a couple of weeks ago. Other than The Passenger, I'm bored by his films. I'm bout to watch Contempt by Goddard once I finish the book this week.

Wait, you want books about films? Books based on films? I'm teaching a film class in prison in the fall, where I'm focusing on adaptation.

what's your favorite godard? read an article this week on roger ebert dot com about some of his '70s films released on blu-ray recently.

Any film textbook you could get your hands on would be very comprehensive and would be a good start. I think the textbook I use is by David Bordwell.
