I read an interesting idea in the ShinGuardian's preview on one way to try and contain Hazard on the flanks. They suggested throwing Yedlin out on the same side as Fab, basically taking Bedoya's spot, and using both their aggressiveness out wide to force Hazard to track back and help poor Vertonghen.

If Jozy can't go, I wouldn't mind this with Zusi on the left.

I feel Zusi has been just as good defensively as Bedoya and provides better help in the offensive attack.

As for Yedlin, I feel we are missing a spark, an igniter offensively. Perhaps Yedlin is that guy.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if they didn't even play Lukaku today.

Zusi has NOT been as good defensively as bedoya by any stretch

I wouldn't be surprised much either but that's a helluva spot to throw Origi into. I'd honestly rather they start Lukaku though cause Origi's speed scares me.

Looked good out there to me.

Played on Ronaldo's side of the field for a good chunk of the match and also switched over to the left side against Germany at about the 20' when it was apparent Davis was not going to be able to handle it.

He's not as athletic as Bedoya, but he's done it defensively.

Low is really making himself look like a humongous dumbass this tournament.

Oh no we have da full back krisis!

Lahm, you play in midfield, Khedira you sit on bench, Mufasa you play right back. der herp derp.

How off base would it be to think that Gonzalez played well enough against Germany to warrant another start in the middle today?

If you really wanted to utilize Cameron's experience in defending Hazard at RB(3 times at Stoke) could you slide Cameron to RB with Besler/Gonzalez in the middle and push Fabian up to RM?

Pushing Fabian up the field in attack forces Hazard to defend a lot more down the outside and you'd be relying heavily on Omar to find his leaping ability to deal with Lukaku/Fellaini in the box, but you'd also have more speed/experience out wide to deal with Hazard.

Crazy?

------Altidore(Bacon?)---------

----------Dempsey------

Zusi-------Bradley---------Fabs

----------Beckerman--------

Beasley---Besler--Omar-----Cameron

I think it's pretty safe to say the full backs aren't changing

Belgium is too, but with this group of players, I would rather be the underdog.

If Hazard does Hazard things, Belgium will score. If Lukaku hits an amazing strike, they will score.

I'm not sweating Belgium scoring. I just want to see us go out there and express ourselves and put a footprint on the game. If we lose, we lose, but let's not do it by being scared of Eden Hazard.
Send Johnson and Beasley up the flanks, get Bradley charging into the box looking for a loose ball. Let's win this thing.

I still don't think I agree with it as we'd basically be rolling the dice on Hazard not slipping through but it's an interesting thought and Klinnsman has already shown he'll pull surprises.

The problem is we'll have to actually possess the ball to force him to track back and we have shown no ability to do that this tournament.

Also, Belgium, unlike Chelsea, have other dangerous attacking options outside Hazard so the the old triple team him against the sideline that all the smart teams did against him last season probably won't work as well.
