I don't know if any of you subscribe to copa90 but it's a really good youtube channel fwiw. These look like some really fun clubs to be a supporter of:

Union Berlin

FC St. Pauli

Will watch when I get home. Fricking work computer doesn't have sound.

I've become a fan of Union Berlin since I did a career with them on FIFA and got them into the Bundesliga. I'm also a fan of Cold War history, and them being the East German club of Berlin was interesting.

St. Pauli is legendary. Well known to German football fans and leftists that follow the game.

I would add that even Bayern has seats that are priced very low so the average fan can attend. Dortmund for sure. They have price controls, so the Bundesliga is really nothing like Champions League in that regard.

The 50+1 ownership model is definitely a pro ffp concept

That's my point. If you think fan ownership/membership is a great way to do things then it completely goes against oil money and sugar daddy clubs. Like the one you support and how you show love for Man City

If you really want to get into a debate on German fan culture with me I will surely educate you.

To me they are two seperate concepts. If a fan owned club has a shareholder who wants to pump a bunch of money into the team, and the other shareholders are on board with that, I think they should be allowed to. I don't think FFP is a good rule on a lot of levels (as we've discussed ad naseum on here) so I'm not really pro-oil money clubs so much as I am pro-anyone who thumbs their nose at this bad rule.

But also I am 100% red half of Manchester for the next 7 days at least and if yall beat Hull it'll be for a lot longer

The 50+1 protects the clubs from being run into the ground and left for dead like what happens in other countries. Which is one of the reasons ffp was put into place.

Most German fans despise the sugar daddy clubs. It's why Red Bull is looked at like they are sub human. They are making a mockery of the 50+1.

Even clubs like Wolfsburg and Leverkusen with their big investment are still protected bc the fans have control and a say. Red bull only has 8 members I believe all of which are red bill employees.

I think the Germans do a great job and obviously have the best soccer culture going today.

I just don't think clubs should be prevented from investing in players in order to build their brand, something you've agreed with on multiple occasions in the past. That includes any and all ownership situations.

A club isn't a play toy, like me and others here have said. The German model prevents them becoming a toy that an owner or chairman just just neglect. Even at Bayern the fans can vote out the board members if they are not happy with how the club is being ran. Clubs mean so much to people it's just a concept lots of American don't grasp.

And I think that's all great. It's still completely removed from the FFP question though. I think clubs should be able to self determine how they are run and how much money is going to be made available to spend on wages and transfer fees among other things.

Yep. Americans have 4 or 5 teams across many different sports, so most just can't understand what it means to give your absolute all to one club.

Although, Seattle is probably the outlier. Those motherfrickers would show up in droves to watch anything.

Well if you don't think a club should be self sufficient then that's your opinion.

Like me and others have said what happens when a club that isn't self sufficient gets neglected or sold and the books really open up.

Also if England had the 50+1 model we wouldn't be seeing the disaster at your club or or the down right negligence at blackpool
