Just watched the gameplay trailer, and I must say that it didn't look that good.

Okay, I'm starting to like this story mode less and less.....
Apparently the only character you can play as is the black guy (just like how your family is all black in NBA 2K) and the only league you can do it in is the EPL.

Yep as soon as they said you have to play as that guy I was out. That's just straight lazy by EA.
eta: At the same time I kind of want to support it so they actually improve on it

ya. the ball and players all have a kind of "floaty" quality. dont really know how to describe it. everything just looked/felt a little janky.
but whatevs. wasnt a big fan of 16, played the hell out of 10,11,12, and 15. maybe i just needed a break. but i hope the game isnt as clunky as 16 but still kinda nerfs 15's speed. and something new in manager mode, which i doubt will have been touched in favor of this journey mode which will only be kinda interesting one playthrough.

I say it will suck, but I'll definitely at least give it one-two playthroughs to see all the situations you can get yourself into.
I guess it's pretty bare bones the only thing they can do is improve upon it.

Yeah i don't think so. Today when they debuted it, they had the guy who they modeled him after on stage and he did a big monologue refering to himself as the same name as the guy in the trailer. I don't think there will be any customizing the player apart from what club you want to play for, and that includes him being british. So you can't do one and play for the USMNT.

PES looks like they made some really interesting gameplay tweaks, I hate choosing between those two, considering the switch to Frostbite on this side, I feel like it might take FIFA a couple of iterations to nail down how to use Frostbite for soccer.

The thing about PES is the licensing. They have the Champions League, which is their ultimate trump card, but La Liga just signed an exclusive deal with FIFA that's similar to the one the Premier League has.
So that could be another league of teams the game just doesn't have.

Agreed. That's the only thing holding it back. And I have heard that 2017 will allow roster updating from a USB drive, which could help.

found this earlier today. cant really see much difference other than some graphically boost in places. nice looks at the new set piece system though.
in the end, its really gonna come down to the demo to see if ill get back into fifa. got the itch bad, but just really had a shite time with 16.

It seemed like the players and ball had more weight to them, especially if that was on normal speed instead of slow. That's a plus.

Ugh. It sounds like they made the game even SLOWER than '16 and made the passing worse! '15's speed was a lot of fun, and it is kind of annoying how slow they made the player's in '16. Breakaways are nearly impossible in '16. They also made passing a lot more innacurate for multiplayer in '16, especially through balls. I
